Paid on-farm training on Australian sheep stations — Merino wool, meat lambs, shearing and pasture management.
Program overview
Live and work on some of Australia's most respected sheep operations. You'll learn Merino wool production, prime-lamb systems, rotational grazing, lambing management, shearing shed operations and modern livestock genetics. The program is structured under Australia's Approved Employer scheme with award-rate wages and full super contributions.
Eligibility
- Diploma / B.Sc / B.Tech / M.Sc in Agriculture, Animal Sciences or Veterinary
- Age 18–35 with valid passport
- Conversational English (no IELTS required)
- Physically fit for outdoor station work in variable weather
- Prior livestock exposure preferred but not mandatory
Roles & Responsibilities
- Mustering and yard work with dogs and bikes
- Lambing assistance, marking and drenching
- Wool classing shed operations during shearing
- Pasture rotation and feed budgeting
- Fencing, water system checks and general station maintenance
- Livestock records and property management software

Salary
Award-rate hourly wages under the Pastoral Award — typically AUD 25–32/hour with weekend and overtime loadings. Monthly gross AUD 3,200–4,500 depending on hours. Superannuation paid on top; refundable when leaving Australia.
Accommodation
Private room in station quarters or a shared cottage. Most placements include meals or a food allowance. Vehicle usually provided for station use.
Work Schedule
Standard 38–45 hour week with seasonal peaks around lambing and shearing. One to two days off per week, with rostered longer breaks between busy periods.

Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) or Training visa (subclass 407), depending on background and program length. Agrilivex handles employer nomination, documentation and Australian Embassy submission.
